The Peaceful Nation of Nepal

The fellow who drove me here talked about living there, in Katmandu, singing it as a lyric of a Bob Seeger song. Nepal has no independence day to celebrate because it was always independent (over the past 6,000 years?). When the British threatened invasion, the governments sat at a table and Nepal offered property, a small plot of land, ending the conflict. (this description may reference the ceding to the British West India Company of 1/3 of the land of Nepal in 1816.) Britain was in India for 200 years. The property Nepal gave to Britain is now part of India. The Himalyas are in Nepal, but what about Mount Rushmore? I mean, Mount Everest. How did Everest get to a Hindu nation? Didn't we always know Everest is the highest of the peaks of the Himalayas? (no.) There it is in Wikipedia. The country was never colonized. Its name derives from Ne, short for Nemi, the name of our little house mouse pet, its assigned hindu protector god. The flooding was the next day after writing this.
